Finding Our Happy Holidays and Joy with Photography

by Sheen Watkins

Finding and feeling the season’s ‘happy holidays’ is easy some years. Other years life’s ups and downs make it harder. This year though, the meaning of the season emerged unexpectedly.

Winter photography!

After shooting my way through a fall shining with ruby reds, brilliant oranges and 50 shades of yellows, we welcome winter’s calm.

With winter’s long days, there’s more time for slowing down and chilling out (pardon the pun).

Happy Holidays: Winter Whites and Gentle Colors

In northern climates, snow blankets the earth with whites. Sometimes the snow starts in early November. This year, our first snow? December. Until the first snow hit, time searching in prior year images brought welcomed surprises.

Winter whites. Holiday Colors. Snow filled moments. Wonders of the Season.

An Unexpected Gift

The other gift? A renewed perspective on the meaning of the season. This year, looking through prior years photographs, the feelings of those moments resurfaced. Those moments represent time. And, the reminder that time is fleeting. Before you know it, it’ll be a year from now and I’ll be revisiting this years imagery.

The best gifts you give yourself and others are time and your presence. Not presents.

Nicely written 🙂 That`s what I like as a photographer: even when times are difficult or dull, there`s always something meaningful to do… And the winter light is certainly the best all day long!

Winter light is the best! And photography is such an outlet for us. Have a great night!
