Update or Set Up Backblaze License on macOS Sequoia

If you’ve inherited a Backblaze license on your Mac or installing for the first time, you’ll need to adjust a few settings in macOS Sequoia to make sure Backblaze accesses and backs up your data. Without the correct permissions, Backblaze won’t be able to access your photo libraries, RAW files, data files across your hard and external hard drives. The following steps help ensure your Backblaze Mac setup is complete.

Step 1: Enable Backblaze in Login Items & Extensions

  • Open System SettingsGeneralLogin Items & Extensions
  • Locate Backblaze in the list
  • Toggle the Backblaze options ON
  • ⚠️ Depending on your computer and external hard drive backup setup, you may see two Backblaze entries. Be sure to enable both.

Step 2: Allow Backblaze in Privacy & Security

  • Open System SettingsPrivacy & Security
  • Scroll to find Backblaze in the list
  • Toggle the permissions ON
  • ⚠️ Again, you may see two Backblaze options. Important! Turn options on to allow full access.

Once you you set up Backblaze and enable permissions, Backblaze maintains the access it needs to back up your Mac files, RAW images, photo catalogs, and external hard drives using macOS Sequoia. This setup gives you peace of mind knowing that your photos, videos and documents are continuously protected in the cloud.

By completing these quick steps, you’re ensuring that your investment of time and creative work is always safe and recoverable with Backblaze’s unlimited cloud backup.
